Thuraya elects new chairman of the board
Saleh Al Abdooli, CEO of the United Arab Emirates-based subsidiary of global telecom service provider Etisalat, joined the board of directors of mobile satellite services operator Thuraya on March 24 as chairman.
“Thuraya has gone through a remarkable transformation over the last few years, and I look forward to being involved as it leads into a bright future,” Abdooli said. “Thuraya has a deserved reputation for its innovative products and reliable network, and for the disruptive approach it takes.”
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Abdooli designed and launched the first 3G network in the Middle East and Africa, in December 2003. He has been associated with the Etisalat Group since 1992, where he has been pivotal in creating technological integration strategies as well as corporate and global expansion investments.
EDUCATION: Abdooli has a master’s degree in telecommunications technology and a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
PIETRO GUERRIERI joined satellite systems company D-ORBIT of Italy as vice president for sales and business development. He previously managed SES’s business development efforts for southern Europe.
Retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. KENNETH TODOROV, the former deputy director of the Missile Defense Agency, has joined the CENTER FOR STRATEGIC AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES’ MISSILE DEFENSE PROJECT as senior associate.
JOSEPH CAMPAGNA was appointed BRIDGESAT’s senior vice president of operations to lead development of the Boston startup’s ground station network. Campagna’s resume includes stints at Orbital ATK as director of ground systems engineering and satellite operations.
CHRIS SCHRAM was named CEO of STELLAR SOLUTIONS AEROSPACE LTD., a systems engineering and strategic support services firm based in the United Kingdom
